BRAND DESIGN
OVERVIEW
A group of avid hobbyists set out to turn their lifelong passion for scale modelling into a creative content platform – sharing their work, celebrating fellow modellers and building a community around the craft.
The challenge was to establish a brand presence that reflects the precision and dedication of scale modelling, while giving the emerging platform a contemporary and distinctive character. At its centre was a logo that could embody the spirit of the artisan: meticulous, purposeful and uncompromising in the pursuit of perfection.
IDEATION
Takumi-Max brings together two ideas from East and West: takumi, the Japanese notion of the skilled artisan, and Max, the shortened form of Maximilian, meaning “greatest”. Together, the name evokes the idea of the greatest craftsman—a fitting expression of the precision, dedication and mastery at the heart of scale modelling.
The identity was developed as more than a conventional corporate system. It became a visual language for the hobby itself – extending across brand tees, display cases, posters, Pinterest graphics and other touchpoints. Each application offered another opportunity to express the character of Takumi-Max, making the identity as hands-on, creative and versatile as the craft it represents.
The result is a brand identity that extends beyond its mark to become part of the culture and experience of scale modelling.
